    Peachland & Newhall Elementary

Between 2006 and 2007, Peachland Elementary School and Newhall Elementary School were modernized under a single contract, and a new 2,600 SF freestanding library building was added to each campus.

At Peachland, a new addition increased the size and improved the functionality of the Administration building, and at Newhall, the core building built in the 1930s received structural and cosmetic upgrades.  New IT infrastructure was also brought to all the classrooms along with a sitewide cosmetic upgrade.

A 3D Revit model was created after bid time to assist in the coordination of ductwork, structural steel and suspended lighting bracing wires, resulting in fewer change orders for these systems.   The contractor's almost immediate cooperativeness once clarifying 3D imagery was provided was memorable and changed the tenor of what was proving to be a challenging working relationship.

Project Role: Job Captain / Construction Administration Lead.

California Architect License (C32413).  At my current employer, I work to integrate BIM tools and sustainable design strategies into the architectural projects I design and see through construction.  An inveterate technophile, I am an advocate for open source tech anywhere it makes business sense to suggest it.

I have a deep love of architecture and want to see its vision expanded, its processes improved and its stature regained.
